Thinking B I G : An installation comes to life, a new gallery launches…

Friends, it’s #Ogtober, a special version of October in beautiful Ogden UT.

Ogden has always been a little “different”… in fact, our town boasts of being “Still Untamed!”

As such, it seems the past few years, it’s been the Fall, not the Spring, when exciting new projects launch… The Corner, and Local Artisan Collective are celebrating birthdays this month, and The Monarch is debuting its East Atrium Artist Studios.

We generally prefer to lead rather than follow, and are proud that in fact, we launched our PLATFORMS and WALLS initiatives during the month of September… in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

For this year, we’re kicking it up a notch.  On Friday, October 4, we’ll unveil / dedicate (it’s really too big a project to “veil”) a fantastic piece of installation art, “Unmaking Monuments” in the lobby of The Monarch,  which itself is kicking off our fundraising campaign for our signature initiative and new home, XIBIT !

You can read more about both the installation and XIBIT in the October issue of Indie Ogden Magazine or download it HERE.

This installation project is the result of our first Visiting Artist in Residence, with Wade Kavanaugh (in consultation with his partner Stephen Nguyen), and did what a residency is supposed to do – to allow, encourage, and facilitate artists to expand their practice… to take risks…

In this case, the project resulted in not just the fantastic visual creation in the lobby of THe Monarch, but in newly-commissioned poetry, music, and dance by local artists -all in response to concept, process and/or resulting installation.   See trhe process and results HERE
