For us, the crisp fall air is pretty much our favorite time of year. After such a wickedly hot summer, we’re SO looking forward to getting out & about for #FirstFridayArtStroll again.
Of course, we’re biased, as we’ve got a special show opening at #O1PLATFORMS. Of course we’ve been over the moon about “#monarchinmoda, our beautiful new mural by Jane Kim and the Ink Dwell team… what a fantastic launch to our new #O1WALLS initiative. And if you haven’t seen it yet, we invite you to swing by on Friday to check it out.
At O1ARTS, we hold community dear. O1|PLATFORMS was created FOR community expression and interaction, after all. But since we’re on this butterfly kick, we wanted to do something more… something that involved community… Well, a community or group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope – what a perfect name for an art exhibition which will feature monarch butterfly-related artworks and installations from eight different project teams, and feature well over 100 local students and artists?! Kaleidoscope | A Community Exhibit Of Butterflies will migrate to #O1PLATFORMS on October 5, to be enjoyed by all for the month of October.
We love that so many different perspectives, themes, techniques and materials will be incorporated into a single show, tied together with a single theme… representing the energy, the brilliance, and the unique voices of so many … that’s #Ogden, coming together like a kaleidoscope.
We also love how it represents coming full circle, since this community-inclusive exhibition is made possible with generous support from Summit Institute at Powder Mountain, whose Artist-In-Residency program introduced Ink Dwell artist Jane Kim to the Ogden community over a year ago.
We’re going to open a little earlier than normal on Friday, because the sun is setting so early these days. So make O1|PLATFORMS your first stop at 5:30pm, then head on up to The Argo House and Eccles Community Art Center, grab a hot drink at Cuppa and check out the Substandards then stop back by The Monarch to catch #VanSessions to round out your art tour of The Nine Rails Creative District
Also – make sure you’re checking out our Events tab on Facebook, the calendar section of this newsletter, or our website. There’s a ton of great (free!) arty goodness happening in Ogden, and we want to see you and hear from you as much as possible!!
